Event Name:Application of Bio-Psychosocial Approaches
Event Description:Persons with a developmental disability and complex behaviours often create a challenge for care providers in providing the person support. A number of issues may be involved; patterns may change or not be consistent. Often there is no single answer. Could it be pain, a bad temper or frustration due to a staff change? This presentation will offer an organized approach to sorting through the issues in an organized manner to understand what may be contributing to a person who presents with complex behaviours. The biopsychosocial looks at the biomedical, psychological and social-environmental factors that influence behaviour and how the interplay. Expect to come away with strategies that you can apply in your work in the developmental sector.
